Hello All!

WOW! Long time since I posted anything!!

We've been dog-gone busy here! Henry just returned from Flyball Nationals with his second Multibreed Division Champion ribbon and a team trophy! Fun to see a team made of 4 different breeds. Love the border collies but fun to mix it up a bit! ;-)

Toller puppy Winnie is wonderful handful! Love that little girl and all her antics! She will challenge me in a very positive way. Agility begins tonight which I believe will be an easier task in keeping her focus than obedience. We started flyball training right from day one when she came home, and she is very energetic and aquick learning student. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her to pieces! Go Winnie!

Bully girl/momma, Bailey, is due with her 2nd litter in just a couple of weeks! She's getting bigger, bigger and bigger! This year the pups will be raised at Millerbull Bulldogs; however, I get the pleasure of being puppy nanny for one week over Thanksgiving. Yay!

The rest of the bully gang...Otto, Maisy and Uma have settled into a great routine of coffee time in bed, baskets with fluffy blankets and chairs all their own! Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled!

Practice Makes Perfect

Well, not quite perfect, but pretty darn good!

Momma Mary has been really working me with my obedience this summer. Honestly, I'm the easy student, little does she know that she's the one I need to train to give the right cues and body language. She's catching on but is a work in progress.

Momma Mary and I went on an adventure to Albert Lea and Lake Elmo. And, like I said I took her in the ring and she performed pretty well. In three shows, we took three FIRST PLACE finishes in the Novice A Obedience. Momma is not bad for a newbie to the obedience world. I'm pretty proud of her!

Here we are with our blue ribbon from Albert Lea where we scored a pretty 197!!

Next I'll train her to toss that dumbbell correctly cuz I love retrieving it!!

Bullies at Work!

I hope as a breeder of some AWESOME bully pups that I can have some bragging rights! :0) So proud to share photos of three Marby Therapy dogs! A huge kudos to their owners--Kris, Kristin, Krista. LOL, is that a theme or what! Must be in the name!!

Here's Gracie! She and Kris are actively visiting residents at a Masonic Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Gracie has made the news print for her special visits! Gracie is definitely brightening the day for many.

Kristine and Spartacus are a busy pair! Therapy dog, rally obedience and conformation. Here's a smiling Sparty sporting his therapy clothes and also a photo of him with a first place finish (score of 98) in Rally Novice!

Bully girl Lucy cannot wait to begin her Therapy Dog work! I guess having physician parents this is a given! She'll be making visits soon in her little red wagon! Way to go, Lucy!

Where oh where has our mother been...O'where o'where has she been?!

Just a little ditty us four paws have been singing. Sheesh, she has totally forgotten to update you all on our wonderful antics, new news, great photos and everythng charming that we are doing!! She's blaming it on facebook...but we say "phooey!" It's just plain laziness.

So the last post was what...months ago! Maybe... Since then our pack has grown by one! Meet Winnie.

Opps, sorry I suppose you humans like the other end. What no sniffing?! O-kay.

We concur with what your thinking...YUP, she's pretty cute! Annoying, energetic and too cute to resist! Momma Mary had other plans than bringing home another Toller puppy but fate stepped in and her she is!

Henry's working on his obedience training. Trials coming up soon! Eeeck! But when he's not training, he's being a super, duper good big brother!

Uh-oh....rude awakening coming for the bullies. Another long nosed, long-legged four paw will soon be joining the family! Yes, a flyball puppy! Fun times ahead! It's not for a couple of months yet, but the puppies are on the ground at Blue Cedar Sport Dogs.

Hi Everyone!

I'm the smallest and newest guest to the four paw house! I really, really like it here but it's just a stopping over point for me while I look for a new family of my own. But I am being the cutest, sweetest, most well-behaved puppy EVER...I repeat EVER!! They ALL love me...the 2-footed and 4-pawed!

They call pick puppy...whatever that means. I think it means "pick me, pick me!!!" And they did! They say I have everything needed to be a super star in the show ring! But right now I'm just happy being a puppy rock star!! Oh yea, being a puppy is pretty sweet, and I'm eatin' up all the lovin', the playin', and the sittin' and watchin' that I can.

More of me to follow I'm sure. Why, cuz I'm just that cute!! Ha!

OMG, so excited for today! It's my day to get hugs, kisses and plenty of lovin'!!

Momma is taking to me to the St. Paul Minneapolis Bulldog Club's bully booth at the Twin Cities Pet Expo!!! Please come and see me and my friend Doc. We're going to be there together. I'll have to be on my best behavior and try to leave my puppy antics at home. Doc is kind of an "old soul" bulldog...you know those ones that have those deep dark eyes, wonderful sour mug faces and just don't do bully bad stuff--like jump, puppy bite and bark at silly things. Oh my, I'm going to have to use all the self-restraint I can muster up today!

So if you are in the area, come by and see us!! We'd be so happy! Here's the four paw scoop on the day. Hopefully photos of me to follow! Oh, and did I tell you about the new doggie house, with a porch!, that we'll be hanging out in! We are sure to be a hit! See ya, Uma

Long Overdue

Wow...so sorry! It's been a super long time since a post. Oops!

It's not that we haven't been busy, because well, there's never a dull moment. I'll blame it on my camera that was not functioning for a few weeks. Although, I will confess, it was a simple mechanical issue with the human operator. Kind of like when you call the computer guy to your office to check the computer because it's not working, and the first question he asks, "Is it plugged in?" Well, duh....ah, I think!

Here's a snapshot of a Otto and Uma after human operator ingeniously decided to go back to the basics and remove the lens and put it back on. Yup, that simple. I got one click in before Uma made a flying leap off the ottoman.

And, a Happy 1st Birthday to Uma...seems like just yesterday you fit in my hand! Now you're a 50 pound lapful of love! XOXO Uma!

Dog Show FUN!

The key word for today's blog is "FUN!" It was a wonderful time taking out the puppies in the Land O'Lakes Kennel Club show. First show for Uma, Spartacus and second show for Bogart. I can't say that all the shows I go to are fun. Sometimes the pressure is on and a person really feels the need/stress to pick up that point, get that major, or whatever. This weekend, while we didn't receive the wins or the major...our puppies were competitive, looked great and had fun!!

Now, I can't wait for the next one!! :0) Kudos to Kristen and Nancy and the great job they did. Kristen participated in her very first show and you would think she had done it 100 times! Great job!!

Marby's A Bit of Heaven, or better known as "Gracie," is going to be spreading some 2011 New Year cheer!! A four paw Christmas gift! ...hang on, will get to that!

I have to say I love to be a bully matchmaker!!! I feel blessed to have been part of some wonderful bulldog matchmaking. :0) Now the puppies, they are easy...who can resist a pudgy wrinkly bully baby. I have had the fortune to have placed puppies in some wonderful homes. A huge thank you to my families for sharing their homes with a Marby bulldog puppy. Hugs to you all!

What's most rewarding is finding homes for the older bulldogs that need their forever homes. Maybe they aren't the most perfect bulldog by show ring standards, have special needs, or circumstances have just caused a change in life. A few that come to mind...Bee, Holly, Griffin, Doc. Hmmm, maybe I have a rescue heart (never really thought of it that.)

So here I share, another successful matchmaking! A most wonderful four paw Christmas gift. Here you go peeps, meet Bella!

Isn't she beautiful! Bella had an owner that cared about her a lot but he knew she deserved a home where she could receive the pampered life and care that every bully dreams of!! So the search began...

A month or two ago I began some email exchanges with a wonderful lady, SyAnn. I could tell SyAnn was going to be a wonderful bulldog momma. She had really researched the breed and was very interested in opening her home and heart to an older bulldog. SyAnn and I quickly became email penpals (farmville neighbors too..haha!) and after exploring some adoption opportunities, the perfect match came along with Bella. Oh lucky girl Bella!!!!! I'm not sure who received the Christmas gift, Bella or SyAnn, but Santa delivered a few days early and now Bella is enjoying life with her new family and four paw sister Mandy.

Happy beginnings Miss Bella! Enjoy your new home!! I enjoyed being Santa's matchmaking elf!!

If you know someone who would be willing to share their home with an older/young adult bulldog, please let me know. Sometimes these opportunities come along and nothing is more rewarding then connecting bullies with their forever families!!!

Hi all,

It's me Uma and I just have to share a photo of me and MY DADDY! Aren't we just cute together! I'm working on making my dad proud by learning to "sit" and "stay" just like him. He's pretty good at the obedience and tricks, and I'm hoping to follow in his footsteps...in the training ring and show ring! :0) We invited Momma Maisy to join us so I could have a complete family photo but Momma is not as patient as Dad and I. Snow Day!

Yippee!!!! Us four paws woke up to a whole bunch of snow....inches of it!!! Momma Mary was groaning about it and Daddy Bill wasn't thrilled with all the shoveling. But me, I was so very happy!

I was like a little kid entertaining himself. I'd run and run, jump through the snow, dash through the trees...over and over again. You see, the bullies aren't allowed in my "big" yard. I don't know why, something about how they run the fence too hard. I think Momma Mary is afraid their bully bodies might pull a muscle or two or three. Not me tho, I'm made for running and jumping.

Today...part of the fun was teasing Maisy because she couldn't run through the snow like me. She did her usually trash talking but I just laughed right back.

The New Look

Our little Uma is growing up....she's experiencing her first big girl heat cycle. Oh joy for us! Her #1 favorite thing is to come on my bed with me while I enjoy my first morning's coffee. I spread out an extra soft blanket for her and she plops herself down on it. She is such an interesting combination of her Daddy Otto and Momma Maisy. A few are...she whines like her daddy and suckles on her blankie like her momma.

She was not a happy girl yesterday when she was forbidden from the bed, but my friend Jen saved the day!!! She made Uma the cutest pair of panties! Check out her Blue Line Design site...she is so creative!!

This morning we donned the panties and continued our morning ritual, much to Uma's delight!

I tried to get a few photos last night, but Uma only wanted to rub my legs to try and get the panties off. This morning was better and she'll be used to them in no time.

First, I must say...."Ohhhh, Mondays are so hard!" After a long weekend at the flyball tournaments, I would love a day to play catch up at home. No such luck. Darn!

But a few brags to share. :0)

Henry ran another PB this weekend in flyball. A 4.21!!!!!! AND, I walked (with two shoes and no crutches or boot) all weekend! Nice!!!

Marby's A Bit of Heaven "Gracie" passed her CGC and TDI!!! (Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International). Good job Gracie and Kris! Thanks for your commitment to her....and now Apple! :0) I couldn't be happier that Apple has gone to live with her sister Gracie. That's going to be one hopping bulldog household. lol!! A shout out to Apple too for receiving her paperwork clearance for her CHIC/OFA patellas and cardiac. Official certification number pending receipt in the mail.

And to my friend Jen on her election to the St. Paul Minneapolis Bulldog Club's board election. She's going to be a wonderful voice for the bulldog breed. Way to go Jen!

Simple Delights

Hi all,

Ya know, these humans sometimes they don't know a good thing when they see it. They scurry around picking up all sorts of cool things. For example, dog toys...why not leave them on the couch all the time? Empty card board boxes...hey, a boy likes a good soggy chew sometimes? And the real kicker...why put away my favorite chewed laundry basket!

I'm telling ya, they ruin the best fun. It's been weeks now since they took away my favorite laundry basket. So I've had to resort to climbing into basket of clean clothes. WTH, then those same humans kick me out of those.

FINALLY, someone figures it out. I LOVE MY BASKETS!!! So yesterday my momma emptied a basket of folded clean clothes and saw me eyeing it longingly. And, ya know what she did? She put it on the floor in my favorite spot...took out a wonderful comfy pillow placed it inside and said, "It's all yours."

I iz one happy bulldog!!

Geez, let a boy sleep will ya!

Passion and Life Collide

Peeps since you are reading this blog...you all know I love my four paw pals. Every one of them! They have definitely become my hobby and passion (and I suppose some could say may "sickness.")

Kind of like the show "Hoarders" it's somewhat of a craziness that somehow a house just keeps collecting dogs. Funny how that works. :0)

Being a breeder and a dog enthusiast in performance venues, I am always evaluating the joys of dog sports, breeding, conformation and just loving my pets. But how does one do that? I do live in the city and have ordinances to follow. I never want to build a kennel to house my dogs! That's just now me...okay for some and I completely understand it, but not me. So again, how does one continue to follow a passion with such limitations. LOL, and not even the limitations placed on me by the city but my family FOR SURE places some limits on what is acceptable and what is just plain craziness. Hahaha...good thing there are checks and balances.

So here comes the collision....when is it appropriate to rehome a dog where they can get the utmost attention and the full fruits of life, even when I love them to death and it makes me cry every time I think of it? Hmmm, those are the tough choices. So it's with a happy heart and a very heavy heart that I am sometimes faced with this dilemma to consider. Dang, this can just make me blubber away. (insert break in writing to have a good cry.) This breeding stuff is not easy! But first and foremost, each and every four paw friend needs the best home possible!!

WOW, Where to Begin?

Hey Everyone,

It's me Henry!!! I have so much to tell...where do I start?

Last Thursday mom packed me in the car, along with border/jack, Rally and labrador retriever, Luke. We drove nearly 10 hours to Indianapolis for the flyball nationals and to participate in the World Record for largest flyball tournament. And, YES, on Saturday we can claim the fame of Guinness World Recorder holder.

Here's my canine friends, Vapor and Orbit, proudly sharing the award for you

Momma Mary couldn't run me in the races so she put me in the hands of human handler, Neil...lookie another red head! Here we are having a little discussion regarding running strategy. :0)

But the best part....drum roll please................................ My doggie team, Fizz Team, won a trophy, Wooooo Hoooo!!!!!!! We are first place CHAMPIONS in Multi-Breed Division 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's kind of like a dream for a newbie like me. Woof, woof, it was the best!!

Indy Bound!

Soooooooooooo excited! Tomorrow we leave for the CanAm Flyball Nationals. Woot Woot! Ten hour drive to Indianapolis and then three days of flyball racing and the goal of making a new Guinness World Record for largest flyball tournament!

Fall Fire

Days are moving slower lately as I am hampered by the ability to get from Point A to Point B. Thankfully my ankle is looking good and actually feels good. If only my back felt better.

From the inside, where I'm confined, it looks like its a beautiful fall--despite the buckets of water that some Minnesota communities got. Here in our neighborhood the trees are turning, the temperature is fall perfect, and yesterday we even cranked up the living room fireplace. Oh, Otto was so happy. He is so odd...never seen a dog like a good hot fire like he does.

Trip to the Surgeon

Hi everyone! It's me Henry. I thought I'd share an update on the broken ankle...only fitting since I was there (and somewhat the cause) at the accident. Momma Mary went to see her surgeon yesterday. The report...GREAT! All is healing as it should, and they changed out her splint for a boot (but no walking on it or any weight bearing for another 8 weeks!)

And, eowww, these are not so pretty! Still swollen with some not so nice color. :P And, Momma, I think you need to shave!

Sorry, I really haven't forgotten about all my four paw followers...it's just been, well, a different couple of weeks. I've started a few drafts, but they never make it to print. So here's one just short and sweet!

With Momma's boo boo, I've pretty much taken to being her bedside companion. Really? Come on, I'd like to be a bed companion but HECK I don't get that invitation. Not sure why--it's not like I snore, fart, drool or sometimes bring in a dangler or two from outside. Sheesh!

So instead, I hang out bedside. Last night mom threw a pillow on the floor so that I made that my bed ALL night long. This morning I'm sacked out by Scooter Sally.

I think I'm beginning to like Sally. But, look how messy Momma left her last night. Just tossed everything right at her! Cripes, its shameful! I s'pose though I'll cut Momma some slack. Yesterday was not a good day for her boo boo. She was quite uncomfortable by bed time so it was all she could do to muster up energy to brush her teeth, wash her face and plump up her pillows.

I sure hope surgery on Tuesday will help Momma feel better...we miss the old her!

Hi All!

Here's a post from whole four paw gang! We'll fill in for Momma Mary while she's propped up in bed icing her broken ankle. :0) Opps, maybe that should be :0(

First off, we defend Henry that it had to be a handler error that this awful accident ever happened. (BTW, we do have eye witnesses who will back up this claim!) Momma Mary doesn't remember the whole sequence of events...she mainly remembers her legs flying and the distinct crunch of bone. Henry, though remembers coming out of the agility tunnel, full blast of course because that's just how he does things, and there right in front of him was Momma Mary and he had no way to stop his momentum. So he took her out just like a bowling ball and pin. LOL, that's kind of funny to us!!

Okay, but to seriously sympathetic, we won't dwell on that comical image. However, when Henry is twitching in his sleep at naptime I think he's reliving the moment. But never mind that... The biggest thing, WOW, have things changed around here. We hardly get to see Momma Mary but we are sure seeing more of Katy, Charlie and Daddy Bill. They've been feeding us, letting us outside and filling in during Momma Mary's absence. How does their performance rate? Pretty darn good, they are talking care all the essentials, but us bullies haven't been on a walk since all this happened. That stinks!! Henry has been out and about with Katy....maybe for us bullies our walks will be this weekend. We so, so hope!

When Momma Mary first came home, we were a bit leery of the two peg things she hobbled around with and to be honest we are really not too sure of them yet. Then came the wheelie thing. Momma calls it Scooter Sally.

That's dad testing it out! Wish we could figure out a way to take those wheels for a spin. Momma can get going pretty good with it on the hardwood floors, and we are sure careful to stay out of her way!

Us, furry kids, don't really understand what all happened in the medical sense, but Momma Mary has a visual for us that she said we could use in the blog post. Funny thing is that Momma came across a blog from some Colorado dude who had almost the same exact injury and same broken bones only it was his right foot not left. But he had to have pins and plate put in to mend it all back together just like Momma will have (oh, he had a fun wheelie thing too). On Tuesday, this is what Momma's doc will be installing (see Colorado dude's image below..his foot, not Momma's but eerily the same location break and all). Ewwww, not sure about all that!

So there you be for an update from us pooches. Oh, Momma Mary says to be sure to thank all for their well wishes and support, especially to the other wonderful family humans...they've been pretty awesome!

Change in Plans!

Run, trip, crunch! Wow, that's about how fast everything in my life changed. One moment I'm running the agility course with Henry, the next we somehow get tripped up together and down I go. Instantly I knew, not to mention the sound of crunching bone that accompanied it, that it was broken but good. S#@!

We spent the rest of Thursday evening in the ER and now will move on to phase two...surgery sometime within the week. UGH!!! The xrays showed both big and little bones were broken and displaced. OUCH! STUPID! Now, my days consist of popping my pain meds, elevating my foot and sleeping A LOT! The narcotics knock me out big time! Everyone else is on dog duty...lol...that's a huge change. But so far so good. Plus Bill is currently mopping the hardwood floors. SWEET!

Sew Much Ado

Came home from a flyball tournament to find that Katy bought a sewing machine! WTH! Ok, I admit that I'm not a Martha Stewart. I can cook, but do I like it...NO! I can do some crafts, but usually my mess overwhelms me. So what is Katy thinking when she believes we'll learn to sew together. LOL...hahahahahahaha!!!

Granted, I find the idea inspirational. I've always had sewing envy. For example my good friend Jen does the most awesome doggie panties, cool collars and belly bands. Yes, I'm jealous! Blueline Bulldog Designs.

Over the weekend, I won a sewn crate blanket at the flyball tournament raffle. Could I do that?! Wow, that would be way cool. But, really, I don't even know how to thread the darn machine.

Katy has her work cut out for her. For starters...it's potholders! :0) Have a pawsitively wonderful day and may your bobbin always be full!

Pitter Patter of MANY Paws

Almost Friday!! So happy the week is almost over! Insanity rules at our house. For a couple days over the weekend, we went from four paws to TWENTY-EIGHT paws!! Yup, you heard right...nearly undid me but we survived! Our sleepover bully guests included Bailey, Uma and Holly. Henry has officially moved back in with daughter/momma Katy and so chaos pretty much was the name of the game.

But, we managed a few smiles for the camera! Say cheez!

What's next? A weekend away with hubby and Henry to a flyball tournament. Ahhh, take me away! So can't wait for it to start...now off to finish the cleaning and the laundry. The price to pay to get away!

The Days Tick by...

Wow, I have been lax lately in my four paw postings! So here's a quick update on our canine activities (I'll try to include a photo for those visual readers...I am one of them!!)

Bailey picked up a MAJOR win at the Bismarck, ND dog show. Woo Hoo!
Apple still rehabbing, with a tweak to her shoulder so a slight setback. BOO!
Maisy/Otto are loving daily walks outside and then chillin' in the house. HOT dog days of summer!
Uma began officially training for the show ring. LOVE this girl!
Henry more agility and flyball training days...first ROAD trip to a flyball tourney coming up soon. PARTY! And then it's to the flyball Nationals in October.

Hi, it's me, Apple. Many of you know me and if you do, you know I am one VERY active bully! Always on the go...run, jump and run, jump some more. One of my favorites is playing and rough housing with brother Henry.

Well, when Momma Mary had the little puppies here this spring, she wasn't supervising me like she should of been. Tsk, tsk, yup, I'll blame it on her. But I was playing and wrestling with Henry like I loved to do every day and every chance that I got, when I played a little too hard and dang it if I didn't hurt my shoulder.

Momma had to take me to the vet several times to see some specialists because they couldn't quite figure out what I did to it. We eventually ended up at Twin City Animal Rehab where they found out I had a bad injury to my right rotator cuff. Not good! A long haul to recovery and only a few docs even do surgery on this type of boo boo.

So they fitted me with a soft brace called Dogleggs and I've been wearing this for almost 3 months now (it pulls my shoulders together to give everything a chance to heal). And I'm also doing some water therapy work on the water treadmill. I think this is fun...and I get lots of treats! Another bully momma suggested some Winston supplements so I've been getting 8 pills of those a day! Holy crap. Momma was getting a little discouraged that I wasn't showing much improvement. And then FINALLY everything must have started working because my shoulder is feeling a little better and now my exercise includes a daily walk of 10 minutes with a thing called a theraband. Wow, all these gadgets and goodies for just little old me.

Sad part...I can't play with Henry anymore cuz I just get too excited and want to start all that running, jumping and wrestling again. So I'm limited to my play area and still have to wear my Dogleggs and continue my daily and weekly therapy. Here's hoping and crossing my paws that some day I'll be as good as new again and Momma can get me out for some much needed training. My hopes to be an agility bully are put on hold for now. Too bad, cuz I know I would have done awesome!!

Anywoo, here's a few pictures of me doing my water work! :) They tell me my 10 minutes on the water treadmill with my theraband on ='s a 30 minute workout. hee hee, I love it!

Birthday Bully Bee!

Us bullies, and Henry, needed to share some great news!! Remember how Momma Mary was so hoping that Bee could find her forever family? Well she did, she did!!!

She's now living in North Dakota with two new furry siblings, Sasha and Harley, and a house full of humans. Bee loves her kiddos so she's gotta be so very happy. Her new Momma Shirley sends us lots of emails and pictures which makes our hearts feel so happy. We even got a note from Bee herself!

We are a bit jealous with the last email from Momma Shirley. Bee got to have a birthday party! Oh yea, wish we were there! She got some yummy doggie cupcakes, cards, a big meaty bone and then got to go on a boat ride and a romp in the water! Dang, but that sounds fun!! We are bored with our ol' house...our Momma Mary has got to get us out some!

So Bee Bee here's a shout out for a wonderful Birthday. Two years old!!

We survived the 4-day IA/MN specialty show! Very fun...beautiful bullies!! Congrats to our Bailey who won her bred-by class on Friday, and then went on to pick up a 5 point Major Reserve. Nice win out of a very large, competitive class! :0) Way to go Miss Bailey!

Exciting Week, So Much to Do!!

Wow....some fun things ahead this week! Just can't wait!! Exciting events ahead! That is after I trudge through the daily chores that are around me EVERYWHERE. So, what do I do...update my blog, of course. The queen of procrastination!!!!

First, (after cleaning the house, ick) is hopefully meeting up to see Reggie tomorrow. We haven't seen him since he left to his new home months ago. I've had the joy of seeing photos but it will be great to give him some bully hugs. Also, tomorrow is the day Bee meets her special visitors. Bee, bee, bee...we only want the VERY best for you!

Second, Wednesday is flyball demo night at the International Youth Soccer Tournament in Blaine. Henry's second time running with the team. Can't wait...nervous too!

Third, on Thursday it is off to Iowa for four days of bulldog specialty shows! I'm just a worker and spectator this time around, which almost makes it more fun! We'll hopefully be able to carve out time to see Apple's sister, Gracie; although, they are not as close to the show site as I originally thought.

Fun times ahead!

Over the weekend I was able to make a visit to see our little UMA. I was thrilled with how she's maturing!! Goodness, she has grown and is maturing so nicely! WOW! Thanks Heather for lovin' her up and providing such an awesome home for her!!

I can't wait to get her in the show ring....Uma at 4 1/2 months.

It's All About Me!

Hi Everyone!

Mom said she just doesn't have much to share these days. WTH! We keep things in the house busy everyday with lots of antics....ah, good and bad. We are dogs afterall...a little tussle over a bone, well that's to be expected. And, of course, begging to go for a walk...Maisy is the worst for this. She loves her walks!! It's a little warm for us bullies these days so most often its just Henry who gets the treat of a walk. Us bullies will settle for the yummy peanut butter filled big bones Momma has been giving us.

As for me, I'm getting some special visitors next week. It's all about me!! They are coming just to see me...okay, I suppose they'll meet and greet everyone else, but this time it really is all about me! I am still waiting patiently for that forever family. Heck, I really don't care so much as I am quite enjoying myself here. I often get scrambled eggs in my kibble in the mornings and lots of lovin'. So, yup, life is good. What could be better? I suppose my own special forever family. We'll see.... I'll keep you all posted!

A restful and somewhat productive 4th of July. I tried to catch up on some laundry...made a nice dent but there's still a few loads to switch this morning. WTH! I swear we are not that dirty of people!

Ended the 4th with a yummy BLT and sweetcorn supper. Best of all homemade ice cream!!! Yum!

It has been a B-U-S-Y week and will be an even busier weekend! Our flyball team is hosting a weekend tournament at the Washington County Fairgrounds. It's also Henry's first official tournament! Come check it out and cheer us on!

Vitamins Are Good For You!

Well, that would be USUALLY! But not when you eat two bottles worth! That's right two bottles, nearly 120 tablets. I guess they don't make them with bully-proof caps.

That's what I found upon my arrival home from work. Two EMPTY bottles of Pet Tab vitamins. What! Otto must have been kept busy for sometime with those! First thought...omg, is it toxic to eat so many? So after a quick call to the vet, we got out the hydrogen peroxide, syringed three tablespoons to the back of his throat and then waited. It didn't take too long and we had vomit success. Yay, nice, huh! :P

Did you know excessive Iron and Vitamin A can damage the liver. I think we're in the clear but goodness!

Lots of kudos my way! I earned my Rally Novice obedience title this weekend. Not sure why the big deal...I am a smart boy and sits, downs, heels, etc. are pretty darn easy if I do say so myself. It was pretty fun, but my favorite night last week was flyball night. Oh yea! Just thinking about it gets me all jazzed up. Oh how I love it!! I guess I made Momma Mary proud by running a consistent 4.6. Again, not a big deal....I always run fast when there's hurdles and a ball involved. Drive, yup I got it! Stay tuned, I'll be running an official race soon.

I love #1! This describes our little Bee for sure. She has so many qualites that delight us, and she is a true champion in mind and spirit. Her personality brightens every day! When she was a puppy I named her Marby's Don't Worry BEE Happy. Wow, little did I know how aptly named she was. Bee, though being bounced around from home to home, is happy happy happy! It's contagious when you are with her!

An update on her progress. She's has had a her palate shortened and saccules removed along with her cherry eye repaired. BIG improvement for her!!! And, she has gained two pounds in two weeks! The supplements have given her coat a wonderful shine and it feels terrific. The two pounds, while not much, has been noticeable to me. Eat Bee eat! I can't say I've met many other bulldogs that don't just live for food. Not Bee, she'll take loving before food any day!

Thanks for all the well wishes! The right home has not come along yet, although, there's been interest. I am just wanting to be very careful and perhaps someday that right family will appear. In the meantime, we are enjoying every minute with her.

Summers and "Up North"

Girls Morning Out!

Wow, almost a week since my last blog. Oops!

So here is a four paws update... Vivi and Bailey (along with Jen, Heather and I) took a road trip to a dog show on Saturday (well, Sunday too). Both girls did such an awesome job! We may not always get the ribbons to show it, but we always come home with the Best in Show! :0)

Poor Apple, she is ready and willing to make her show ring debut, but unfortunately, and to her dismay, she had to stay home. She is not too thrilled about the Doggie Leggs she needs to wear. But we sure hope it'll help heal her shoulder injury. X our fingers that in few months she'll be in tip top shape.

Yesterday was our St. Paul Minneapolis Bulldog Club's Puppy Match. Fun, chaotic, fun, chaotic! Oh and did I say hot and humid! But with all those bully puppies there it was the BEST! A special thanks to those who helped organize it; unfortunately, I was of no help with just trying to keep track of the puppies I had there. So thank you everyone!

"I just can't get enough of flyball! So much so that I lose my mind with all those tennis balls around and totally forget all my discipline. But, when Momma Mary says 'Ready, Steady, PUSH'...I'm off! Over the hurdles, hit the box, grab my ball, make the turn, and back thru the hurdles as fast as I can! Wow, it's the best!!! I can't wait for tonight!" says me, Henry.

Life is Good!

Hi all, this is Bee. Some of you are asking how things are going for me so I'll give you a quick update. Momma Mary says my number one priority is weight gain! I'm a very lean girl and can use a lot more fat on my bones. Ha! How many girls can say that! I'm getting the most yummy food...it seems a bit more in quantity too. I'm as full as a tick when I"m done eating. Momma Mary says I need a good conditioning of my coat and she is working on getting my tear stains and wrinkles in top bulldog shape. It's kind of like a daily spa treatment...nice! My nose isn't dry anymore so I guess all the pampering is paying off. I even had a pedicure this morning and I sure needed that. Not so sure this was as nice as my new food, but my toes are looking good. My nails are very dry so if anyone has any ideas on how to get these feet in pretty shape, please share!

Some of the new things in my diet is a change to a more premium dog food (love this!), a supplement Missing Link Plus to make my coat soft so everyone will want to pet it, Angel Eyes powder and a special vaseline cream for the tear stains (my eyes are getting more beautiful everyday...well, it is one of my best features), a Benedryl for my spring allergies, and then Momma Mary tops it all off with canned green tripe and some raw lamb. I think I've gone to dog food heaven! The other dogs are jealous that they are not getting this gourmet meal! They try to find some crumbs after I eat, but I usually won't leave them any. It's kind of fun getting this royal treatment.

I overheard Momma Mary on the phone. I always want to know what she's doing and follow her EVERYWHERE! From what I could gather in my bulldog understanding is I'm going in to see Dr. Jim next week. She says I need my cherry eye repaired. Not sure what this is all about...but I love meeting new people and anything to make a girl look beautiful. I'm game! Wait until you see the new me!! So maybe I'll sit still long enough for a nice portrait to share soon. If it makes Momma Mary happy, I'll try.

Wow, it started out as a kind of sad day for me, but turns out it's been great! A puppy I bred (well now almost 2 years old) came back to me. The sad part, this was her second home. WTH! I thought I had done my homework but somethings are just out of our control. So Bee returned to our home this morning and what a delight she has been!

Bee probably wouldn't take first prize in a beauty contest but that girl has a lot of HEART!! She is doing fantastic here and has firmly grabbed a hold of my heart strings. Thanks to all my friends for the support during this difficult time. But it is time to BEE happy and all is good in our four paw world. :-)

Past Week at a Glance

Almost Friday! The week has gone well! Mostly successful...I'd give myself a B+ on my to-do list. :0)

Obedience - attended. CHECK!
Puppy Class - CHECK! Enrolled and ready to go. It's gonna be fun with Monty, Bogart and Uma. Bulldogs will rule!
Apple Rehab - CHECK! She was fitted for a brace (will arrive in about a week) to provide support and change her gait to heal her rotator cuff injury. Four months in a brace, then two months rehab. She can continue most activities. So all, in all, a good report.
Otto surgery - CHECK! As Dr. Jim said we did the full meal deal today. Neuter, nares, palate, saccules and tonsils. It wasn't so much needed as it was to give him comfort. He'll be a happy no-nut boy!!
Agility homework - FAIL! We didn't get that done. Good thing Henry is a smart boy, maybe we can get by faking it. Next week, right?!
Flyball - CHECK!...we have it tonight.
Lastly, but maybe most important Happy Hour with my PHS friends! - CHECK! In one hour and 5 minutes.

The Week Ahead

We are looking forward to the week ahead of us. It will be B-U-S-Y! Lots of dog training ahead and a few vet/rehab visits to take care of. We are scheduling puppy class for Uma; then repeat beginner obedience for Apple (with the arrival of Bailey puppies, she was a class dropout. Opps!) Agility, obedience, and flyball for Henry; along with some agility homework assignments for Henry. Gotta get crackin' on that!

Otto has his big day on Thursday. N-E-U-T-E-R....shhhh, gotta say it quietly. He'll thank me in the long run! Apple makes a rehab visit to Twin Cities Animal Rehabilitation for her injured front leg. We are hoping they can help us with some exercise or rehab therapy to get this on the mend.

That's enough for my plate....

And, we are keeping the Bergeron family in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. Sgt Joseph Bergeron of the Maplewood Police Department you are not forgotten. {{{hugs and love to Jackie and family}}}

Spring Cleaning!

Time to freshen up some things like the house, closets, gardens and my website! Wow, the list is never ending! I spent some time updating and making a few changes to the Marby website. It's still a work in progress, always is, but it sure needed a few changes.

I'm also adding a JUST FOR FUN page dedicated to the favorite photos of our four paw pals. And with this I'd love your input! Do you have a favorite photo?! Send it to me with permission to post. It doesn't have to be just bullies, but at my house they tend to be the ones I catch doing quirky, oddball things. Imagine! Otto reigns supreme there! He's da' man!

Hope to get some "just for fun" pictures....send, send, send! I'll try to change it up often by replacing, adding, etc. Email.

Ohhhh, where to start...

It has been a very, very busy week. And that is so weird because here the puppies are going home...only two left, Molly and Uma, and I am busier than ever! WTH!!!

My morning at work was a bit stressful so I was delighted to have puppy emails to brighten my day! Hooray! I must say, we-I-they have been so blessed to have such wonderful bully parents for our Marby puppies. It makes letting them go so much easier. Thank you all!! You are wonderful!! Keep the photos, stories, emails coming!! Love them! :-)))

The puppies are leaving. :-( Sad for me, lucky for them!!!

Marby's B52 Bomber "Bogart" went to his forever show home with Nancy (we'll co-own this handsome boy). Fondly nick-named (by Matthew) as "Booger." hee hee

Uma will stay here for an indefinite amount of time. She's too special to let go just yet. And, quite a Momma's girl. She holds her own (if not more!) with the big puppies. I love her attitude!

I can see her thinking, "Oh yea, I can take him!"

And thinking again, "What, me naughty?! No way, look how sweet I am!" :-)

Busy day ahead....Spartacus (aka Alfred) is going to his forever Wisconsin home and a full day at meetings with the St. Paul Minneapolis Bulldog Club. If you're local, and not a member, you should consider joining. Super club and wonderful bully fellowship and education. See you there!

New Friends, New Families

I know it's been a few days since I've posted. I guess that means nothing too eventful has really happened. And that's good. We are all enjoying the nice weather with plenty of outside time. Puppies...big and little, can't get enough of this. (Me too!) Hope you all have pawstively great day.

Some father, daughter bonding time. Otto and Uma. :-) She loves her daddy!

Batman, now MONTY, is off to his new home and being spoiled, loved and is thrilled to be the center of attention. Not to mention a comfy spot on the bed!! ;)

Robin, now REGGIE, is so happy to have his own forever family to love him. And such a smart boy...already learning his "sits" and "high-fives." He's a lucky boy!

Gordon, now BOGART, will be leaving Friday to stay in his forever show home with Momma Nancy and Momma Bailey. We will miss the little "Booger." hee hee.

Joker, now EZRA; and Alfred, now SPARTACUS will soon follow. What will I do with such a quiet house!?

And little Miss MOLLY, aka Francis, will hang out with Uma for awhile until she goes to live my friends, Randy and Deb. Can't wait to see this little girl in the show ring!

All good things must come to an end. But, it's been WONDERFUL...love you babies!! Thank you to the wonderful families, and NEW FRIENDS, that are and will welcome these Bailey/Broggie puppies into their homes!!

Once Upon a Time...

There was a family looking to add a great dog companion to their home. The husband commented, "How about a bulldog?" The wife in return said, "What the heck is a bulldog?" Many hours of research later, the wife was totally hooked and their quest for a bulldog puppy became reality.

Enter Bodanna's Outlaw Otto. Not just your ordinary family pet, but a handsome, beautiful bully that deserved the chance to strut his stuff in the show ring. Thus he did! And to the delight of many. :-) But then the wife said, "I think he needs a little girl to share his time with."

Enter Shack-N-Lo Miss Maisy Mae. Now Miss Maisy was not your average couch potato bully. She was full of spunk and energy. However, she preferred playing in her familiar surroundings than the scary world of show dogs.

It was a beautiful match!

The wife, fully immersed in this new four paw crazy world, began the idea of future Maisy and Otto babies. They would be so beautiful of course!

Oh, but not to be! A small medical issue had caused BIG fertility issues for the poor handsome Otto. Say it's not so!

But, a miracle happened...one sperm, met one egg. A beautiful girl arrived!

...and that will not be the end the to this story!

Wow! What a Day!

We have no idea what just all happened but boy was it an adventure! First, Momma carries us one by one to some new kennel space. What the heck for? Loads us all in and SHUTS the doors! C'mon now!

Gordon had the crazy idea that he'd chew us free. Way to go, Bro!

Needless to say that did not work. So we cried for a bit to no avail and finally were lulled to sleep by some nice movement.

Then we were hauled out and dumped into these box type things. But the good part, Momma Nancy was there to greet us and gave us lots of loving!

And it was a good thing we got all those kisses cuz we sure did get POKED and prodded, but we never made one peep. Such good babies we are.

And best news of all............we all got a clean bill of health. Yahoo! Thanks Dr. Jim, and we'll come back to visit again soon.

For now, we need a nice long nap!

A bulldog is missing at this point. WE need your "help and eyes" to see if we can get this bulldog home. Whoever has this bulldog may be trying to take the dog to a local vet for medical treatment, offering the dog up for breeding, selling the dog in the parking lot of a gas station or a selling in the parking lot of pet store. There is even a chance the might turn up in an animal shelter near you.

This bulldog is in Texas, perhaps you have a friend or family member you can forward this alert to?

The dog could of been driven out of the area or given to someone that took the dog elsewhere.

Stray bulldogs are rare and someone will remember seeing this dog or hearing of someone offering a 'great deal' on a bulldog. As part of the bulldog community, someone may mention hearing about this bulldog in passing thinking your should know or could offer some advice on the dog.

Any bulldog missing or stolen should be of importance to us all. If thefts and unreturned missing bulldogs are left unchecked or not noticed, it puts other bulldogs at risk for being taken too.

Our Four Letter Word

At our house we have a new 4-letter word....you wanna know what it is? I know you do.....it is P-O-O-P. Yup, disgusting huh!?

It has been a focus of my world for the last six weeks. First when the puppies were newborns, it was are the puppies pooping enough; then at about one week of age, it was a struggle with poop that made their bottoms so red and sore; and most recently, it's been about how to get this poop firmed up!!! What has my life turned into!? Good thing I'm back at a job with "normal" people whose lives don't revolve around their four paw companions. Not that it's a bad thing but just a reality check to help keep my perspective on life.

So our latest poop adventure has been to get formed stools...not squirty puddles that get walked in, tracked in, and even rolled in. Ish! So yesterday I made a dog food switch and gave each of the puppies some kaopectate. I'd already gone back to adding more formula and rice cereal to the gruel which had helped but once I started increasing the dog food portion, the runs began again. But the good news to report...we have formed and shaped poop that is easy to pick up! Oh, happy day!! Yes, the littlest of things can make my day. Actually it wasn't so little as it was getting to be a big, BIG headache.

Lookee... :-) Oh wait, I thought better of adding the picture for illustration, I'm sure you've gotten the gist of it and adding a photo most certainly would have put me beyond the dog crazies. For sure!

But I do have some photos to share of the munchkins as they are just so dang cute these days.

First, some sleeping babies. I love sleeping puppies!

And then there's the babies soaking up some playtime attention from Katy and Will. Will is stationed in Ft. Hood and was home for a weekend visit. My nephew, Matthew, just went to Iraq...so please keep up the prayers for our soldiers. Thank you Will and Matthew and the many others for serving in our military!

And lastly our growing little Uma will start the transition to real food tomorrow. Bailey has happily given up the nursing duties and Uma is now enjoying formula in a bottle. It's been fine with her. Plus I am enjoying the cuddle time with Uma. And, Maisy is resuming her role of mothering Uma (along with Bailey) so this lucky girl is getting twice the lovin' from two momma's.

It's been a great weekend. Hope yours is too!

Puppy Playtime

We enjoyed a super fun evening out in the living room...we even got to play with some of the big dog toys! The bone was our favorite. I hope Momma brings it to our puppy pen soon. It was great fun exploring and so many new things! Wow, it's wonderful to be a puppy! ;)

My eyes are opening and I am just getting to see some blurry images of the world around me. Otherwise, I'm just sleeping most of the time. I suspect there will be lots of changes ahead for me this week. I have a lot of catching up to do with the big bully puppies. I'm trying!

The Proverbial Brick Wall

It's Saturday! TG! To be honest with you all, yesterday I had a bit of "meltdown." I guess the work week, puppies and everything just caught up with me and overwhelmed me. SO, thankfully Bill was here to help me get myself regrouped and today I am feeling back on track...almost.

The puppy room needed a thorough cleaning last evening and we also rearranged so they have more room. Plus, it's now set up for more convenient cleaning of their area. They are using their potty pads very well and almost always go there for their poo...but if I'm not there to catch it right away, they romp right through it and make a HUGE, icky mess. And they poo A LOT!

They are loving their new space and just about run around it, stalking each other and the brother/sister screaming wrestling has begun. But that's how they learn their socialization with others. Uma will be a challenge as she won't have her siblings to help her figure out what interacting with others is all about. That will be our challenge to provide it for her.

Good morning! TGIF! I finished my first week of work. I LOVE being out with some great people at a great place. Lyngblomsten has been a very special place to me and I am thrilled to be back at work there. A blessing for sure. But on the flip side, my house and chores are totally out of control (or it feels so anyway). I'm happy it's Friday and tomorrow can be catch up day, hopefully!

I was thinking last night that I really should try and write about something other than bully puppies. Huh, hmmm, I couldn't really come up with anything. They seem to occupy most every hour. Sorry, I guess you are stuck with puppy updates for a bit. I'm hoping next week Henry and I are back in training classes and flyball. And, I was just notified that our agility training will begin in April. Can't wait to try that out!! Maybe soon Bill and I can get out for a date night and dinner.

But in small ways, things are starting to get a bit more normal. A big milestone last night...the BIG puppies slept through the night!!!!!! I didn't really get to reap the benefits of that as I was still up with Uma, but it does give me hope that some day soon I can sleep a full 7-8 hours. How great will that be!!

This weekend will also be a rearranging day. I need to make some modifications to the big puppies' pen and just this morning Uma moved into the playpen. So a busy weekend ahead.

They are getting to be active little puppies, starting to wrestle and play with each other. And such spoiled babies! They love attention of their human friends. I try to tip-toe into the room because if they see me...whine, whine, whine.

Bailey has pretty much weaned them for nursing, so lucky Uma has the milk bar all to herself. :-) And she is VERY content with that and starting to pack on the weight.

Agenda today: errands, work (that would be a punch-in, real job), laundry, puppy feedings and clean up. It never ends!
